Appliances in Orbit!

I've made a lot of mobiles now, here are some shots of one that was up at
RIGGED, How to Destroy the Universe
put on by Jim Mason and F-Space

I make tiny ones also using computer fans.
They're fun but not as graceful and stunning as the big ones.

Too busy putting the darn things up to take pictures.


These are fully powered pieces that can move all the way around while powered up. They are propelled by household fans. They are counterweighted by working television sets. This one has two levels and sweeps about a twenty foot diameter. I had to leave the boxes on the box fans for safety, even though they're ugly. In retrospect it was definitely the right choice. I've since gotten more attractive, safer fans.

Too bad you can't see the movement, it's very graceful.
Next time I hang these I'm paying a photographer!
I king of like the blurryness though, it does the movement justice.
